Chateau La Condamine’s 2017 Corbieres Rouge is impossibly good. It is the sort of wine that reminds us all of what we are looking for in a great glass of red. The fruit is exceptionally ripe and yet the wine retains a savory edge that evokes a sense of harmony that must be tasted to be believed. Flamboyant scents of creme de violet, nag champa, candied cherries, and warm tar leap from the glass like a dancer diving into her partners waiting embrace. The palate is wonderfully black and hearty with a stern edge that, with coaxing, yields stunning layers of blueberry jam, cassis liqueur, and fresh pomegranate juice...

Firestone Walker Brewing Co. - Sucaba Barleywine 12oz
Sucaba 2019 is a 11.3 percent English barleywine-style ale brewed with munton’s pale, crisp maris otter pale, Munich, dark and light crystal and chocolate malts along with Spalter Select hops before being aged in bourbon barrels for one year. The barleywine debuted in 2008 as part of the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery’s Proprietor’s Vintage Series but was replaced in the brewery’s schedule in 2017 by Bravo barrel-aged imperial brown ale, only to return last year.
