White Wine of the Week

New Gewurz by Alexander Valley Vineyards

Soft fruit with pear and honeysuckle flavors.  This gewurztraminer's consistency is light and hits the middle of the palate with good fruit.  Not like your typical gewurztraminer that exhibits spice and ginger...this one is smooth and will pair well with any homemade dish.

SALE $9.99 Reg. $11.99 (thru 11/27)

2 Worlds by Quinta Do Alqueve

This Portuguese blend is dark and rich with cherry fruit.  It is composed of half touriga nacional and half cabernet sauvignon. This is full-bodied wine with some firm tannins.  Grill up some red meat and enjoy this one.

Justin Vineyards 2006 Sauvignon Blanc

This sauvignon blanc has the citrus and grapfruit flavors going on...light and crisp with nice acidity.  Touch of minerality to accompany the soft fruit.

Branham Jazz Zinfandel 2005

Packed full of structure and fruit…Raspberries and dark cherries abound in this wine…Great length on the palate and well worth the $29.99.  Actually worth more for what is in the bottle. You Zin fans will love this wine, it’s very lush and velvety….Gotta love that.…Pair it with something bold, how about a burger with a lot blue cheese.  Let’s give this 91 points!!!

$29.99

Branham Estate Chardonnay 2006 (insert picture for Branham Chard)

From the Russian River Valley appellation ~ the sole source for the fruit.  Showing nice on the palate, little bit of  kiwi, green apples, pineapple and a bit of grapefruit.  Very yummy stuff…Great balance...Giving it 90 points!!

$22.99

J. Kirkwood Merlot 2002

It’s 90% merlot and 10% cab franc. It is a big bad ass Merlot for sure.  Loaded with silky fruit and acidity… A food wine for sure…. A nice lamb stew as a food pairing would be the ticket for this beautiful Merlot from Napa Valley.  A solid 90 points!!!

$25.99

J. Bookwalter Lot 21

Blended with cabernet, merlot, syrah, cab franc and malbec…and yes it is a mouth full with plum, over ripe bing cherries, black berries and vanilla.  Followed by silky, and big lush tannins.  This bottle can be cellared easily for 5 to 7 years.  On the food pairing side of things I would have to say this will go well with a nice plate of Italian sausage, peppers and onions…Don’t forget that nice loaf of bread that you love to buy at Whole Foods. Scoring this at 89 points.
