Gnarly Dudes isn't just surfer slang. It's also one of most outstanding wines we've found this year! This shiraz is dense and dark in the glass with a nose that is so strong that you'll begin salivating as soon as the cork comes out of the bottle. On the palate layers of blackberry, cocoa, fennel, and clove begin to reveal themselves. Notice the intense power coming from firm tannins and bright acidity on the finish. It's a rare occasion when a wine of this quality becomes available for this reasonable a price. I highly suggest that you buy 6 bottles and open one each year for the next 5 years.

FOOD PAIRING:

Plan a meal around this wine. I'm thinking buffalo burgers with hunks of bleu cheese mixed into the meat before grilling and roasted new potatoes tossed with garlic, rosemary, and a bit of dijon mustard.Spicy BBQ!! Or, if you are feeling it how about a nice NY Strip steak.
