Eagle Vale Whispering Lake Reserve Chardonnay and Shiraz 2005

The 4th of July is upon us so this week we are pulling out all the stops! We have 2 extraordinary wines from Australia that are going to be perfect for all of your weekend’s grilling and chilling. First is the Eagle Vale Whispering Lake Reserve Chardonnay. This engaging effort is richly textured and totally engaging. Pour a glass and you’ll be shocked by the way it’s showing despite being 10 years old. Luscious notes of butterscotch and vanilla burst from the glass when you go in for a sniff. A second swirl and sniff reveals appealing hints of woodsmoke, toasted brioche, and dried apricots. The palate is elegant and refined with a style that deftly straddles the line between Napa and Burgundy. It offers up lush notes of baked apples, candied ginger, toasty oak, and sweet vanilla with hints of tangerine zest and pink grapefruit on the long, plush finish. Come by the shop this evening to try out a 10 year old, fully mature, 93 point Chardonnay tonight for free. We think it’s going to rock your world.

As if an aged 93 Point Chardonnay wasn’t enough, this week also have a killer deal on the 2005 Eagle Vale Whispering Lake Shiraz. The nose of this wine is just beautiful! Delicate hints of crushed cherries, tar, anise, underbrush, damp soil, aged tobacco, and even a touch of wilted violet. It is as layered and complex as any of the world’s best Syrahs. The palate is clean, pure, and restrained with layers of cherry, blackberry, red currant, and blueberry pie. This one too, is fully mature and ready to drink with a certainly composure that only comes from bottle age. The finish offers up appealing hints of peppery spice, toasty oak, and loamy soil. This is a wine to contemplate, to pair with passionately prepared meals, and to savor. But this weekend it is so inexpensive that you can serve it with grilled burgers or even pizza. Don’t pass this one up folks!
Food Pairing:
Pair this lovely Chardonnay with grilled chicken in white barbeque sauce this weekend or save a few bottles and make it really sing when you put it alongside a plate of freshly prepared crab cakes with remoulade sauce.

The Shiraz will just plain rock when you serve it with those great little grilled lamb "lollipops" that you can get at the better meat counters. I like to serve them with a reduction of port and fresh crushed cherries that I spice with cinnamon, clove, and allspice.
You MUST mention this special or print it out to receive the price on the above wine.
This price expires 7/5/2015 at 6pm and is limited to in-store quantities.
No rain checks given. Call (303) 936-0272 to reserve bottles with a credit card.
