Every time I have a sip of a Pali Pinot Noir it makes me smile. There’s a fair amount of Pinot that makes me furrow my brow contemplatively. But Pali is grin inducing every darn time. The reason is that the wines are forward, juicy, and generous. The 2017 Huntington Pinot bursts with character. It is so lively and effusive! I love the rosy nose and the delicate little hints of blood orange zest and Oolong tea underscoring all those fresh plucked petals. The palate bursts, just like the nose. Creamy kirsch and cassis lead the attack with a second line of macerated strawberries and pomegranate seeds backing them up. As the palate evolves lovely tertiary hints of tobacco leaf, anise, and cola begin to make appearances offering a layered finish that is grounded, sincere, and savory. It is a pleasure to sniff, swirl, and sip, each moment of air exposing more engaging style and character.

Thanksgiving is sure to look a little different this year for a lot of us. But one thing that won’t change is the way a great bottle of Pinot can compliment a diverse range of dishes. Whether you serve a traditional oven roasted turkey with stuffing and green beans or you go for something more avant garde like curried turkey soup with carrots and ginger, you can be confident that the Pali Huntington will be up to the task!
